Ordering a Portrait...is easy!
All that is needed to get started are a few (3-5 are ideal) good quality photographs of the subject(s). If necessary, these may be sent by conventional mail, but the easiest and preferred method is by email. Along with the photos include a brief description of what you have in mind. After I have a chance to check out the photos I will contact you (usually within 24 hours) to offer my suggestions, a personal price quote and my availability status for the project. A deposit of 50% of the total is required before start of any portrait. Upon completion I will send you a digital proof - a "preview" of your artwork for your inspection. Balance of order & shipping fees are due upon approval and prior to shipping. Normal turnaround time is 2-4 weeks but this does vary depending on my schedule.
IMPORTANT! If you require your portrait by a specific date - it is crucial to plan ahead and order early to avoid disappointment. |
A Few Kind Words From Clients:
"The portrait is absolutely amazing. It looks exactly like him! Awesome job." - Jocelyn B. (Spruce Grove, Alberta)
"I can't thank you enough. The portrait has totally exceeded my expectations!" - Natalie D. (Winnipeg, Manitoba)
"It has been 3 months since your portrait of our beloved Rascal arrived in the mail and my husband still hasn't stopped staring at it. He also makes a point of showing it off to everyone who visits. Rascals' passing was very hard on all of us, but I can't help but feel that thanks in part to your wonderful artwork, he is still very much with us today. God bless you." - Beth L. (Seattle, Washington)
"WOW!!! Totally incredible. An exact likeness - right down to the last whisker!" - Ryan M. (Vancouver, British Columbia)
"I have never seen pencil work of this quality. You have quite the gift. Many thanks." - Lee Anne M. (Denver, Colorado)
"The picture literally brought tears to my eyes. I LOVE IT!" - Lisa F. (Winnipeg, Manitoba)
Size does matter (Quality too!)
As a professional artist, I make every attempt to reproduce all my subjects with the greatest of detail and accuracy - but it is very important to keep in mind that the quality of the finished work has a great deal to do with the quality and clarity of the reference photos that I am provided with. Clear, close-up photos taken in good lighting make all the difference. In order to ensure your satisfaction, I would strongly advise that you take a few minutes and read the Hints & Tips article on Better Photos before you start digging out the camera or searching through photo albums for suitable photographs. A little preparation and planning go a long way towards a quality end result. Unfortunately on occasion, I have had to turn down potential clients simply because the photographs provided were not of usable quality.
A Word of warning...
There are many talented artists available via the internet and I definitely recommend that you do a little research in order to find the one that is right for you. I am confidant that when you consider both quality and price, Pets & Portraits stands out among the best. Be aware though - There are also "discount" art mills offering seemingly unrealistic prices on wonderful custom paintings on the net. Have you ever wondered how this is possible? The truth is many of these art factories are making their profits by exploiting the poorest & least fortunate people from Communist & Third World countries. Many of the artists are actually incarcerated and most receive very little in return for their efforts. Ordering from these places basically condones this practice as acceptable. Don't hesitate to contact these art factories and ask for a list of artists available or inquire as to where the work is being created.
Prices
Below you will find a price chart complete with sizes and price ranges. Prices are dependent on several factors including overall size of the artwork and the difficulty of subject(s). Not all dogs will take the same amount of time and portraits of human subjects will vary in complexity as well. You will be provided with a personal quote once I get time to study your photos. All prices include acid-free matting and foam core backing. Picture framing is not included but options are available, if desired. For additional information please check out the Picture Framing section which not only provides options but also explains what is involved in the process. Sizes indicated below are outer matted dimensions and are all standard frame sizes. Due to restrictions in detail, no portrait size available smaller than 8"x10".
